What Does LED Red Light Therapy Do?
Photobiomodulation uses specific red and near-infrared wavelengths that are absorbed by cellular photo-acceptors (notably cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria). Absorption triggers a cascade of biochemical events — increased mitochondrial activity and ATP production, modulation of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, and downstream signalling that reduces inflammation and stimulates repair and regeneration. Why Four Wavelengths?
Different wavelengths penetrate to different tissue depths and target slightly different biological responses.
Combining surface-focused red wavelengths with deeper-penetrating NIR wavelengths lets a single session address both skin, and sub-surface tissues (dermis, muscle, ligaments), improving overall effectivity versus a single wavelength alone.
